Screwed-up a tune-up!!! Can You Believe???
Precision Tune Auto Care
From: Jay Hein jjjhein@yahoo.com

I recently took my car in to the Precision Tune shop in Fairfield, CA and had a very nasty experience. My car was running OK but as it had been 30000 miles since sparkplugs were last replaced, I asked them to do the plug replacement.
Well, they said that I would have to pay for a "tuneUp" to the tune of $56.00. They refused to just put in the plugs and thats it, so I said OK.
I picked-up the car and headed to the freeway with my grandchildren. As I was accelarating and flowing into freeway traffic (its a 65mph zone), we were nearly killed as a big trailer-rig was almost on top of us BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE....IT WAS MISSING AND NOT MOVING!!!!!
Very upset about this neardeath experience, I went directly back to the Precision Tune shop and told them there was SOMETHING WRONG WITH THEIR TUNE-up !!! i WAS TOLD THEY WERE TOO BUSY (it was a Saturday) and to bring it back on Monday !!! Sunday I cancelled plans to drive to San Jose to visit my ailing grandmother.
Monday I was at the shop before 8am and they agreed to check their work. I waited and about 10 minutes later the mechanic told me that there was nothing wrong with the tune-up they did and that they would run a DIAGNOSTIC for and additional $85.00 !!
I told him that this was bull and that I would take my car elsewhere to get an opinion and that I would file a small-claim in Court to have them refund my tune-up fee.
Now, people, how is it possible to take a car that is running fine for a tuneup and wind-up with a badly running car directly after PRECISION TUNE supposedly did one???? I called their customercomplaint 800 number and four times reached a recording telling me that they would return my call.
They did not and I think its pretty poor service when you can't even reach a person to tell them about your experience.
SO I have decided to post this experience on as many web sites as I can find and have emailed my NEGATIVE opinion about this experience and the service at Precision Tune-up to all the people on my email addressbook (188) and asked that they forward this message to all their email friends.
I have also filed a complaint with the state agency licensing repair shops and the Better Business Bureau locally. I'm even thinking of picketing the shop with WARNINGS to potential customers.
ALSO, from now-on before I agree to have any service done I will HAVE THE MECHANIC TAKE YOUR CAR FOR A RIDE WITH YOU IN IT BEFORE YOU LEAVE IT WITH THEM...to make sure that they document the running condition of the car BEFORE they "FIX IT".
AVOID PRECISION TUNE SERVICE AT ALL COSTS before you too end-up with an unwanted "NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE" !!
