RE: Educators Music, Cape Coral, FL - didn't see sign that reads "all sales are final" - not allowed to exchange guitar for another guitar or return amplifier

(there is no e-mail or website)More of a buyer beware story than a rip-off and was partially my own fault for not paying more attention. My 17 year old son is mildly autistic and loves music. For over a year now he has been researching electric guitars in hopes of buying one and learning to play it.
When he graduated high school he received some money so I took him to Educators music to look at guitars. He really wanted one model but asked my opinion on a second model which I liked better. He decided to purchase the one that I liked and the lady there even had him try it out in the store.
First Problem: they had him hook up to an $899.00 amp which sounded GREAT, yet we could only afford a cheap amp.
Second Problem: instead of walking me to the counter with the register, she takes me to another counter away from the register (which will come into play later).
They were nice enough to even throw in a cord and some picks and we left with our purchases and receipt. About 4 hours later,my son says to me, "mom, I really liked the other guitar better and this amp sounds awful, can you exchange the guitar for the other one and take back the amp"?
My receipt says "All claims and returned goods MUST be accompanied by this bill", so I assume we can do this. 24 hours after our original purchase, I take the guitar and amp back to the store and explain that there is nothing wrong, that we just want to exchange for the other model which is the same price.
At this time, the woman points to the register (remember the register she did not take me to?) and points to the sign that says 'ALL SALES FINAL" and she informs me that she told my son that the day before, which is why she "told him to test it out, because he could not bring it back". I was right next to him when she told him to try out the guitar to see if he liked it, she said NOTHING about it not being returnable. She also stated that all she could do would be to send the items to the factory if they were defective.
Well, the amp is not defective, it just sounds poorly. All I can say is that even though it was my own stupidity, I will not shop there again because they do not seem to care if the customer is happy. They never got nasty or anything but any business in this economy should want to make their customer happy to keep them coming back. It is not like I went in there ranting and raving, I was calm and reasonable and was actually suprised that they would do nothing to help me with the situation. They are not the only music place in this area and there are plenty online as well we can go to.
Considering, IF he learns to play he will be spending more money on a better amp, pedals and better pick ups as well as keeping supplied in strings and other items, they have lost quite a bit of future business from us. The guitar still had the tag and warranty card on it and had not been played but a few minutes, it could have been sold as new still.
My son has already placed the amp on e-bay in hopes of recouping some of his money. Buyer Beware, ASK about return policies, do not take the fine print on your receipt as the final word.
