Complaint Repair received the following consumer message on August 12, 2003:

RE: Hotpoint
freezer - purchased from Comet of Selly Oak, Birmingham, UK - purchased
5 year extended warranty - having trouble getting freezer repaired
Dear sir or Madam
could you please advise me on a problem regarding a extended warranty,4
years ago we purchased a freezer from Comet of Selly Oak Birmingham and
took an extened warranty for 5 years out.
On the 31st july this year it broke down we got in touch with Comet who
gave us a phone number to call Hotpoint which is the freezers make,Hotpoint
then sent a engineer out to look at it the engineer told us it could not
be repaired, he then sent a fax off to his head office.
we have not heard anything from Hotpoint to this although we have made
numerous phone calls No matter how many calls we no one will answer the
phone in customer sevices department, we have been back to Comet to complain
but all they say is their obligation finishes after twelve months although
they sold us the warranty in the first place.
