Complaint Repair received the following consumer message on April 26, 2002:

RE: MCI tephone
service - accepted 2.5 cents per minute and got long distance service
blocked
M.C.I. called me and offered 2 1/2 cents a min.- I agreed- instead I got
my long distance blocked - I called M.C.I. and they told me it was because
of the other account- I said I didn't have an other acc. with them- they
said the account was under another name and that person didn't even have
the same last name as me, they asked me my S.S. # and that didn't match
either.
They asked me how long I had this # and I told them 12yrs. They would
not remove the block- they would not let me end service with them- I ended
up disconnecting my phone and getting a new #-BEWARE- M.C.I. will give
a CALLING CARD TO ANYONE WHO ANSWERS YOUR PHONE !!!!! and there is nothing
you can do!! I called the P.U.C.O. and they where no help. PLEASE BEWARE
