Car Dealership in Arlington VA

19 months ago, my niece and I went to this dealership to purchase a used 2000 Kia Sportage. Before taking the car out of the dealership it needed to be inspected. The dealership took it to their mechanic who told us the car would not pass inspection and needed some work done. Since, according to the salesman, the car was still under Kia warranty, they told us they would take it to the nearest Kia service center for repair. They lent my niece a car and the Sportage was in repair for two weeks. When picking up the car, the salesman told us that the car needed a new engine the Fairfax Kia service center replaced the engine. The salesman led us to believe the car had a new engine in it. My niece has had this car only 18 mos and the engine died on her 1 week ago. We had and were paying for the extended auto warranty which turned out to be more of a hassle to deal with. On Sunday, May 14, we had to take the Sportage to the Kia service center in Leesburg and leave it there for repair. According to the Kia service center in Leesburg, the was shot and it would cost $4,000 to repair, more than the car was worth. They also told us that the engine was never ever replaced and that it was the same old engine. The Kia service in Leesburg then tried to work with the Extended Warranty and called their offices. They told them that first they needed to remove the engine and tell them exactly what was wrong and then they would decide whether or not to cover it. If the extended warranty would not cover it, then my niece would have to pay Kia Leesburg $600 just to have the engine removed. I have called the Rosenthal dealership and they told me that they do not keep records over a year. I called every Kia service department in Fairfax only to be told they have no record of the car being serviced at their service center. Needless to say, my niece had to buy a new car and add the negative equity of $4,000 to the new car. The 2000 Kia Sportage should have lasted her at least another 2-3 years.

I feel they took advantage of and deceived two women. I would never, ever do business with a Rosenthal dealership again.
