MDG Complaint.

From: Mark
Date: Saturday, 19-Aug-06 13:21:42 CDT

This is my story; On November 14 2005 I ordered a MDG Horizon 2900TV Computer from said company using the web site to order, they emailed me all the paper work did everything that was asked of me, sign papers such as pre-authorized payment agreement, free internet offer and so on. I then faxed them off to said company and waited to hear from or receive my order 10 days later (November 24 2005) a UPS truck shows up at my home with my order ( keep in mind that MDG says next day delivery of computer) I sign for it and take the boxes into the house and began to set things up, after doing so I start my new computer up and began to register it with Microsoft, I then started to remove all the free ware that came with said system and the Anti-Virus that it came with and installed my own, such as Avast virus scanner, Ad-aware spyware scanner, Ewido malware scanner,Spybot spyware scanner,A square malware and spyware scanner for back up and Zone Alarm as my firewall restarted the computer and went online for up dates to all said security programs and Windows up dates restarted computer again ran my security scans just to make sure that everything was ok and the hard drive froze so I hit the reset button to restart computer and I hear this sound coming from the hard drive a screeching sound I thought nothing of it at first so I continued to let the computer restart it does, gets to the desks top and freezes up now I get worried I go to one of my other computers I have in my house and go online and download the Western Digital data lifeguard and the WD Diagnostics tools I go back to the MDG computer and restart it this time it works I install the said Western Digital tools and run them the results were something I didn't want to see the Western Digital data lifeguard said that my hard drive was about to fail and I should back everything up so I shut the computer down and call MDG a speak to a tech I explain to him what has happened and he begins to tell me it's the security software I have on my computer that is causing the problem I tell him that there is no way that could happen because I have the same security software on all my computers and nothing like this has every happened to them, we go on like this for sometime and I give in to his suggestion of using the system restore disk that came with the computer to restore the system back to the way it was when I first got it, I do and it does then he asks me if the problem was still there I said no and he hangs up I never even got to try and up date the system with him there to see what he would say so I let it go for now and re-install all the security programs that I had put on the system before the computer runs fine for awhile and then the hard drive fails. I call MDG again and spoke to a tech telling him what had happened the first time and this time he begins to tell me the same story of how it's my security software that is causing the problem at this point I am so pissed off at these people I begin to tell this guy that he is wrong and that there is no way that any of the security programs could do this, he then says for me to use the restore disk to reinstall the system to it's original state, I had already told the guy that the hard drive had failed and wouldn't let me start or install anything I guess he didn't hear me the first time so I tell him again he still tells me to use the restore disk to reinstall the system to were it was then hangs up. I go out buy a new hard drive and replace the one that failed install the OS and everything is fine until now that hard drive has failed I called MDG spoke to a tech and told him what had happened and he beings to ask me what do I have installed on the system I tell him and he says why do I have more than one program that does the same job I tell him because one program can not cover everything he laughs at me and then begins to drill me about what do I expect them to do with the computer I say fix it he says there is nothing they can do because I have replaced the hard drive and that my warranty is void. I am in the process of telling my bank to with hold payments to this company until they either fix or replace the computer.
