I recently discontinued service with Earthlink. I had had problems
with the dial-up and did not use it very much so it made no sense to
keep it. When I began my service round about October 2005 there was
another feature that Earthlink wanted me to install which would have
included extra charges. Charges by them and charges by the telephone
company and no, I did not want that so I didn't install or use the
feature and told them so over and over again. Yet after a month with
Earthlink dial-up internet service Earthlink began to bill me for the
feature that I never installed, used or thought about using. It
puzzled me why Earthlink did not know that I was not using the
software. How is that possible? And yet Earthlink bills on a subject
that did not exist. I have a copy of the statement that promised to
credit me for those charges on that program which I never intended to
use. I made it very clear many, many times over and over with
different people at their phone number and online that I had not used
or installed that CallWave software and had not wanted this service.
So now I have a statement with a credit that has not been honored
because I discontinued my service with Earthlink. I called them after
the usual billing date when I would be debited for the service, the
7th of each month. They are very quick to debit on a billing but not
so quick on crediting one for mischarges. I am supposed to receive a
credit in the amount of $13.90 and yet when I called them today, I was
given a different amount less than this. So this is my complaint. Not
only does Earthlink slam, it also cheats and I was given the royal
run-around but I did not give up. I have attached a copy of the
statement and I hope it shows up clearly. If not, I do not lie. This
is all true.
Desired Settlement: Refund
Settlement Explanation:

We would like for Earthlink to honor their original statement to
credit me for $13.90 - charges that were never incurred by me and
which should have been credited to me by this time as was the usual
billing date when service was active.
