1998 AMIGO W/4 CYLINDER ENGINE
Isuzu
From: Mike Fortune mfortune@covilleinc.com
Date: Monday, August 14, 2000 08:46 AM

I was driving along and had it die on me all of the sudden. I had it towed to a dealer, the dealer said that a belt that maintains tension on the timing belt broke. This caused the timing belt to break and that caused the oil pump to break as well. (also, they say I tried to start it too many times and killed the starter.)

They replaced everything, after breaking the oil pump's bolt that holds it in place, and went to start it only to find out the heads were bent. They had to replace the whole engine. They got the new engine in finally, but the heads were no where to be found, (except maybe australia!) The car has been in the shop for 2 1/2 months now with no end in sight.

They told me to call the Isuzu customer care line, which promptly told me to call the better business bureau, which told me they only handle defects in manufacturers parts, not parts on back order, however they did say they will send me the papers required to file a complaint.

They asked me what I wanted Isuzu to do, I said take the damn thing back, I don't want this hunk of junk for any more miles than I have to drive it. I was lucky, I still had my power train warranty.

But, if this happens after only 2 years, what happens in 5 or 10? If anyone learns of a resolution or legal claim that I or anyone with this problem can make please let me know.

Mike Fortune
